My Child

How will my child be looked after?

The welfare of your child is our primary concern. Before our camps open we make sur ethe venue is appropriate for the care of kids aged between 3 and 9 years old.

On-site risk assessments are completed and staff are trained in all the necessary policies and procedures.

Most of the staff are highly experienced school teachers and we keep the same staff all year around. Children are continually supervised by staff throughout the day including toilet break and lunch times.

At the end of each day our staff if you would like any feedback on your child’s day please just ask during this time and we will arrange for your child’s Group Leader to speak to you.

Does my child have a keyworker?

Yes, each child will be assigned a Keyworker, also know as their Group Leaders, during their time at camp. They will be responsible for your child’s welfare at MuddyBoots Camps. You will be able to meet the Group Leader at the drop off.

What happens at the drop off?

Cobham – you should follow your child’s group colour at the drop off and pick up times. Parents will receive an email with all the instructions. If you have placed a late booking please email fun@muddybootscamps.co.uk for group details.

Guildford – go to the main door for drop off.

What should my child bring?

For under 5s we recommend you to pack extra clothing in case of toilet accidents.  Please make sure that your child is wearing comfortable shoes and clothes to MuddyBoots. We would also advice not to wear new or branded clothes as they can easily get messy during our activities causing stains.

During warmer seasons please provide and apply sun cream each morning, we ask that you show your child how to do this before they attend camp. Roll on sun lotion is a good option for younger children as the staff can do this for them and the children can then rub themselves. You must give us permission to apply suncream during the booking registration. Staff will remind children at break times to apply suncream and help younger ones if needed. It is also a good idea to send a broad-brimmed hat that shade the face, neck, and ears.

All children should bring a lunchbox to camp. MuddyBoots provides a digestive biscuit during snacks times so we recommend you to pack fresh snacks such as fruits and veggies for breaktimes. We do have a fridge available if your child needs to keep a medication refrigerated. However, we would not be able to refrigerate foods. We suggest you to provide a small cool bag (lunch box size) containing a frozen carton of juice or a small ice pack. This will keep the contents cold until lunch time.

MuddyBoots has a no nuts policy. Please make sure there are no items containing nuts in your child’s packed lunch.

My child has a specific medical condition do I need to tell you?

Yes – please tell us anything we need to know about your child’s heath when you make your booking, for example, diabetes, epilepsy, serious allergies and so on. In some case we may need to send you some more forms and get additional information from you about your child’s needs. If your child needs medication at camp, you MUST let the staff know and complete a medication form prior drop off.

What if my child carries an Epi-Pen?

At least one member of the MuddyBoots team at each camp will be trained to administer an Epi-Pen in an emergency. Parents must inform the camp if their child carries an Epi-Pen. Your child must bring two Epi-Pens in a labelled bag.

Packed lunch suggestions

It is important that your child has enough energy to get the most out of a fun day at camp.

They will need:

  • A labelled refillable water bottle – we suggest a thermal water bottle to keep the water cold.
  • A heathy and balanced packed lunch and snacks for morning and afternoon break.
  • Ice pack or frozen drink to keep food cool during warmer weather.

We have a ‘no nuts’ policy on camps so please avoid foods like peanut butter as well as Nutella etc.

Here are some suggestions for a healthy and tasty packed lunch they will love:

Savoury fillers:
Sandwich Bagel, wholemeal pitta/wrap, pasta/rice, cooked meats, cheese.

Fruits – 5 a day:
Apple, banana, carrots batons, grapes (please cut in half), cherry tomatoes, satsuma, strawberries, blueberries.

Growing bones:
Yogurt, fromage frais, cheese.

Drinks
Water and juices.

What should my child NOT bring to MuddyBoots?

We strongly advise that children do not bring mobile phones, watches, iPads and such like on to camp. There is no real use for these items and they are often mislaid as children are busy and excited doing other things. Staff are trained not to put themselves in a difficult position by taking care of such items and we cannot accept responsibility if they are lost or stolen.

Can I get some feedback of my child’s day?

If at the end of the day, you would like to speak to the Group Leader of your child’s group, please just ask at the pick up time. Our staff consider each child individually and are only too happy to share all amazing things their group have been up to!

Lost Property

Please make sure all of your children’s belongings are clearly named, this makes it easier for staff to identify any lost property items and ensure they are returned to the owner straight away.

If you realise your child has misplaced an item please contact the camp straight away and you can agree a time that is best for you to collect it. Please ask a member of our staff if you wish to have a look at our lost property box.

On the last day of camp each season, any unclaimed lost property will be taken to a local charity shop by our manager.

We are not responsible for any item left at the camp.

What if my child has an accident at MuddyBoots?

We are parents too, so we understand your concerns, but don’t worry we are well prepared. At each site we have a 12 hours Paediatric Trained Staff who are trained to deal with accidents and illness. Fortunately, almost everything we have to deal with are grazes on knees, nettle stings and so on.

Should a child suffer a more serious injury or fall ill at camp you will be contacted immediately.

My child needs extra help, can they still come to camp?

Yes, all children deserve a great time at MuddyBoots Camps. Please email fun@muddybootscamps.co.uk to discuss this in more detail. We will do our best to accommodate your child’s needs.

What if my child is ill and cannot attend the camp?

In fairness to other we cannot accept children at camp if they are feeling unwell. If a child requires a medication whilst at camp, please supply it in a well-labelled container and fill in our Permission to Administer Medication form.

Unfortunately, your child will miss the day booked and will not be entitled of any credit or refunds as per our policy.

Why can’t I see pictures of my child on social media?

Where possible, we post photos to our social media platforms for parents to view. Please note that we cannot guarantee your child will appear on these. Whilst our best efforts are made to take as many photos as possible at camp, the operation of the camp itself must come first.

If you don’t want images of your child to be taken and shared on social media, please tick the box during the booking registration.

Please note we do not share images of children directly with you. You can find our camp photos on our Facebook or Instagram pages.

What if my child is not FULLY TOILET TRAINED?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to take your child onto MuddyBoots Camps as all children must be fully toilet trained in order to come to MuddyBoots Camps!
